More isn&#039;t always better \u2013 but too little can quickly become a bottleneck. Here we&#039;ll figure out how much RAM your computer actually needs.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does RAM do?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RAM is your computer&#039;s short-term memory. It stores data that programs and games are currently using, so that the processor can access it quickly. If you have too little RAM, your computer is forced to use the slower storage, which causes stuttering and longer loading times.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much RAM do you need?<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>8GB:<\/strong> Works for simpler use and older games, but is starting to become scarce for modern titles.<\/li><li><strong>16GB:<\/strong> The recommended level for most gamers today. Sufficient for almost all games by a good margin.<\/li><li><strong>32GB:<\/strong> Good if you also stream, edit video or run many programs at the same time.<\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speed and more than just quantity<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the amount, the speed of the memory affects performance, especially in combination with certain processors. However, in general, the right amount of RAM is more important than chasing the highest possible speed.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Think about the future<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It may be worth choosing 16 GB even if your current games can handle less, as the requirements are steadily increasing.
